The best wet day

I did not want to get out of bed, but my mom pulled me out from under the blanket. It was still dark and I thought that it was night. The dark morning was as cold as a freezer. I got out to the window and was surprised to see that water rose upto the window sill! At that moment I understood that it was 'the best wet day'. The phone rang, 'tong, tong' and I picked it up. It was our class teacher. She told me there was no class due to water-logging on the roads after the rain. I wore my raincoat, stepped out and splashed in the muddy puddles. Then I got into the park and walked along the slippery steps. I went to the pond where I saw the frogs crock 'tr tr tr'. I even saw a rainbow high in the sky giving my heart all the joy of life. I saw a duck roam around gracefully. By then the alarm clock rang and stopped my morning dream..

At the train station

My mother asked me to hold her bag for a minute while she went to drink water, I said 'yes' and stood alone. Then I saw two strangers coming towards me. I was scared as I did not know them. By that time, mother had come back and called me to the train. I was happy to be with mother and helped her to get the luggage to our seat. Halfway from our station, while my mother was standing in the passage, the two strangers snatched her gold locket quickly and ran away. We informed the station police, he promised my mother to return the locket.  Two days later, they somehow caught the robbers and got mom's locket and returned it. We thanked the station police, we were really happy to get the Rs 5 lakh worth locket back.

Cleared tests and got selected in 3 school clubs - the fine arts club (Cheriyamma, are you listening?), the right writing club and the whiz kids club. Got two badges already which I have to wear everyday to school. I love these badges. Waiting for the whiz kids badge.

The eight planets of our solar system

Mercury
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun in our solar system. It is a rocky planet with no atmosphere or moons. A Mercurian year is about 88 earth days. The days are hotter than an oven and the nights are cloder than a freezer.

Venus
Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is the hottest planet in the solar system. The planet is covered with Sulphuric acid clouds which trap heat from the sun. Venus has an iron core but a very weak magnetic field.

Earth
The Earth is the only planet in the solar system that is known to support life. 3/4 of Earth's surface is covered with water and the rest is land. The presence of air and water makes life possible on Earth. Earth has only one moon.

Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. It is the most Earth-like planet in our solar system.  It is half the size of Earth, has a thin atmosphere and a rocky surface. It is two moons named Phobos and Demos.

Jupiter
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. This gas giant has a thick atmosphere and over a dozen moons. Its most prominent features are its bands and the great redspot which is a storm.

Saturn
Saturn is the second biggest planet in the solar system. Its beautiful rings are mostly made of ice chunks. Saturn is visible without a telescope but a low-power telescope is needed to see its rings.

Uranus
This huge icy planet is covered with clouds and is encircled by 11 rings and 8 moons. Its blue colour is caused because of its atmosphere which absorbs red light.

Neptune
This huge frigid planet has a hazy atmosphere. This gas giant is orbited by a band of 8 moons and narrow faint rings arranged in clumbs.

My friends

I have five friends,
Each with different qualities.
Sharing their enjoyment throughout our time together,
And spreading their happiness by:
Jumping and playing and skipping and hopping!
And leaping and giggling and jiggling and bouncing!
And singing and hiding and finding and joking!
Friends are most precious for spending time.
